Fellowship
The purpose of the Fellowship Ministry is to provide opportunities for Christian fellowship by sponsoring and assisting with various church events. The Fellowship ministry hosts events such as Men’s Night to Cook, New Members’ Lunch, Easter Breads, the annual Spring Picnic, the Ice Cream Social, and the ever popular Pig Pickin’. Fellowship provides support to the Outreach Ministry by providing lunches for the Inquirer’s classes and to the Mission Ministry by providing meals for the mission luncheons and town hall meetings. Fellowship supports the following groups at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church:
- Presbyterian Women – Presbyterian Women is open to women of all ages. We meet monthly for Bible study and fellowship. We support mission projects such as providing meals for the night shelter. We make soup and keep it in the freezer for our own members in case of illness. We sponsor the handmade ornaments for children at Christmas and sponsor projects for needy children. The mission projects of the Presbytery are supported by our offering. Circles meet on the second Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on the third Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. New members are always welcome.
- 39’ers - The 39’ers is a group of people age 50 and older who enjoy getting together monthly for food, fellowship, fun and sometimes education. We meet the first Monday of the month from September through May at noon in Fellowship Hall (due to Labor Day, our September meeting is actually the first Tuesday.) A brief welcoming meeting includes announcements of interest, recognition of birthdays and anniversaries, sharing of care and concern, and devotional, which is followed by a nutritious catered meal, complete with dessert. Our program follows and this varies each month from entertainment to historical presentations, health education for seniors, and current items of interest. Reservations for lunch are required by Thursday of the week before and there is a charge. 39’ers sponsors the AARP Safety Driving Course each fall at our church.
- Souper Suppers - Participating members of St. Andrews form groups of 10 -18 people who form supper clubs. Each group gets together for a monthly meal from October to May. Typically, the meal is a covered supper dish with the monthly host providing the main course and the other guests bringing the side dishes. However, all Souper Supper Groups are self-governing and there is tremendous flexibility in the format. Lunches and brunches are often substituted for dinners, and many groups agree to meet at a restaurant if everyone needs a break from cooking.
- Events – Will be updated with information about upcoming events.
